Earbuds have become an everyday essential for listening to music, taking calls, exercising, and working. With all-day use increasingly common, comfort and awareness of one’s surroundings are now just as important as sound quality.
To meet these needs, Samsung Electronics has launched Galaxy Buds On, its first open-ear earbuds. Combining a clip-on design with rich sound and AI-powered features, Galaxy Buds On offers greater freedom and flexibility.
Samsung Newsroom put Galaxy Buds On to the test to see how they perform in everyday situations.
🕢 07:30 Comfort and Awareness on Every Run
▲ Galaxy Buds On
Galaxy Buds On’s clip-on design rests lightly on the ears for a comfortable fit. Even with vigorous head movements, the earbuds stay securely in place.
▲ Users can adjust the band’s angle to fit their ear shape.
▲ Galaxy Buds On features an ergonomic design with speaker and battery placement optimized through data analysis and simulations involving a wide range of ear shapes.
Before a run, users can explore routes while warming up without taking out their smartphones. Saying “Hey Google, let’s talk Live” launches Gemini Live, allowing them to ask for running route recommendations and details such as distances and key features.
▲ Galaxy Buds On offers hands-free access to Gemini Live when paired with a Galaxy AI-enabled smartphone.
A tap on the back of an earbud starts music playback, and TwinBoost speaker delivers enhanced bass compared to previous Galaxy Buds models for richer sound.
The clip-on design lets users hear passing bicycles and runners approaching from behind while listening to music, helping them stay aware of their surroundings.
▲ Users can run safely and comfortably with Galaxy Buds On.
Voice commands offer another way to control music playback without touching the earbuds. Users can say “Next song” or “Previous song” to switch tracks or “Volume up” and “Volume down” to adjust the volume.
▲ Galaxy Buds On supports voice commands.
🕙 10:00 A Smart, Hands-Free Work Companion
Galaxy Buds On also proves useful in shared workspaces, thanks to Audio Leakage Reduction1 technology that minimizes sound escaping from the earbuds.
After a meeting, Quick Voice Memo2 helps users organize their to-do lists. Once user speaks after pressing and holding the back of an earbud, recording starts immediately. Later, users can ask Bixby about their tasks and hear the details aloud, eliminating the need to search through saved recordings.

Head Gestures feature comes in handy when users have their hands full. They can nod to answer incoming calls or shake their heads to decline them. Simple head movements also let users check message notifications and dismiss alarms.

🕡 18:30 Clear Calls, Even on Noisy Commutes
Galaxy Buds On remains comfortable even after hours of wear, without putting pressure on the ears.
The earbuds also maintain call clarity in noisy environments, such as crowded subway stations.
Intelligent Clear Call makes this possible. Three microphones, a bone conduction-based Voice Pickup Unit Sensor, and a machine learning-based solution work together to isolate the user’s voice and reduce background noise.
▲ Galaxy Buds On features Intelligent Clear Call.
From morning runs to the journey home, Galaxy Buds On fits naturally into the rhythm of the day. Its clip-on design, Voice Command, and AI-powered features make everyday tasks easier to manage.
Galaxy Buds On lets users enjoy their audio without losing touch with the world around them.
Due to the design, some sound may leak depending on the playback volume, ear shape, and ambient noise levels. Sound leakage may be more noticeable in quiet environments. Actual performance may vary depending on the environment and fit. ︎
Available on Galaxy AI-enabled devices and requires the Samsung Voice Recorder and Bixby apps. The press-and-hold gesture must be configured separately in Settings. ︎
